well, it seemed like a good idea at the time

I installed a watercooler for our computer last night. (A Zalman Reserator 2, for those of you who are interested.) Very spiffy. Shiny blue coolant, a big radiator. We could hardly believe how quiet it was when we fired up the computer without all of those silly fans that oldfashioned people still use for cooling their PCs. We could also hardly believe how long it took for the monitor to appear, and how long it took for it to actually boot.
After a great deal of troubleshooting, Tony realised that we'd used the wrong screws to brace the CPU cooling block, and had scratched the motherboard, and it wasn't actually booting. Oops.
Tony is currently investigating options for rebuilding the Raid Array all of our data is stored on, without losing it all, and having to pay some data recovery specialists hundreds of dollars. Tony has lent us his PC in the meantime (he's been having fun playing with one of the Lamp style Macs, so he can cope without it.)
So far the most awkward thing is not being able to watch the cricket, while the kids watch kids shows.

A water cooler?? I have heard it all! Why not get a laptop? They have a massive capacity, can do all the funky things that anyone needs to do (trust me), and you can be ANYWHERE in the house and use it if you have wireless (currently sitting on recliner in the lounge looking accross the valley..)

hmmm oops indeed - I'm sure Tony will indeed have some fun. Hope it all works out and especially you don't loose any data.

Cherie: So yes laptops are very useful but I must say they do get extreamly hot because of there size, well mine does how about yours (being newer and a brand name it probably is way better at cooling).

So I'd be interested to know what you regard as "massive capacity" considering work that Debbie (and I do) with DVD and video editing of high res/definition. And of course it comes down to $$$ unless you are Google who buy a Hydro Power Station and a massive water tower cooler for their server farm(s) (or something like that)!

Cherie, I deleted the post before mine because I noticed a few spelling mistakes in it when I pressed the button so I don't think you 'missed' any.

I ask the question cause I'm interested in finding out what your thoughts are.

I also find the problem with the written word is it's interpretation :-) That's why I don't do much blogging

Why doesn't this blogger have a spell cheacker...it's so last century!

Its cool, and I apologise to Stu for jumping the gun, (you must agree we do have a tendancy for this kind of thing!).

In regards to what I think, it doesnt really matter, the work I do with video encoding and production on my laptop doesnt really touch on what you guys do. I do it for Jon's website and online promotion productions, and also as well as home video fun. I just know that my closer to basic laptop packs a punch.

PS I cant spell so I certainly wont say anything there. A straight A english student who cant spell, makes no sense.
